Where are you based?
We are a small Scottish business supporting students across the country.
Which curriculum do you follow?
We follow the Scottish Curriculum -
The Curriculum for Excellence.
What subject(s) can Pin-Tuition offer support with?
English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry & History.
What levels do you tutor?
Primary 1 to Advanced Higher level.
Do you support adult learners too?
Yes! We offer tuition to children, teenagers and adults alike.
It's never too late to learn!
Do you cater for individual learning requirements and disabilities?
Yes! Many of our tutors are trained in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities.
As each student is unique, we can discuss how best we can support them upon enquiry.
Do you offer lessons in person?
Some of our tutors do offer face to face tuition, but be aware that demand is high for this service and we may not always be able to accommodate.
Do you offer lessons online?
Yes! Most of our tutors deliver their lessons online on a 1:1 or small group basis.
Are the tutors qualified teachers?
Our team is a mixture of subject specialists - some are fully qualified teachers and others are completing their teacher training at the moment.
Are the tutors disclosed?
Yes, all of our team is disclosed through PVG Scotland.
How long will my child need tutoring?
Some students come to us for a one-off lesson on a specific topic, whilst others have studied with us all through high school until completing their final exams.

1:1 Lessons FAQ
How much are your 1:1 lessons?
£25-£45 per hour depending on which tutor is available and their level of experience. We can share options with you upon enquiry.

How many hours of 1:1 tuition will the student require?
We're happy to support our students for as long as it takes to achieve their goals!
Most of our students book for 1 or 2 hours per week but we also offer fortnightly options too.
Where will the 1:1 lessons take place?
Online lessons are delivered via Zoom.
In- person lessons are delivered at the students’ home.
What is the minimum sign-up period?
1:1 lessons are booked monthly, you can cancel at the end of any month for the following month.
What if the student cannot make a 1:1 lesson?
We require 48 hours notice for cancellations of 1:1 lessons.
Dates off for holidays etc can be booked in advance.
Any cancellations made within 48 hours notice will not be refunded but may be rescheduled at the tutors’ discretion.
Group Lessons FAQ
How long are Group Lessons?
Group lessons are 1 hour long.
How many students will be in each group?
Group size ranges throughout the year depending on demand, most groups range from 5-15 students at once.
How much do the group lessons cost?
Our groups lessons are £15 per hour, we have frozen this fee for three years now and intend to keep it this low for as long as possible.
What if I can’t attend one of the booked group lessons?
If a student is booked into a block and misses a session, they will receive all resources from the meeting.
No refunds will be issued for missed lessons.
Will the student be set homework tasks?
We will provide follow-up materials for students to continue to apply their knowledge and skills from each workshop.
It is not mandatory but students are welcome to send follow-up work back to us, if they would like it checked.
